Someone stole my 2003 silver and orange Lemond Arch D'Huez last Wednesday. I had it locked at the bike racks near the MBTA station on College ave. Any info on finding my baby would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is anyone else's RCN internet slow--like 1990's 28.8 modem slow--today?

Irksome!

Massachusetts voting districts confuse me (different zoning rules for practically every elected office!), but this site helped a lot:

http://www.imagineelection.com/

If you fill out your address in the top left corner, the site will show you what your ballot will look like November 4. In my case, most of my elected officials are running unopposed, but that varies based on where you live.

As a side note, I now see why it's so important to vote in primaries here - most of our elected officials are democrats, so the race is often over before election day.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good voice teacher in the Davis Square area. I've been out of practice for years and would really like to get back into it. All of my previous training has been in a classical (as opposed to pop, broadway etc) style and I'd like to continue that technique-wise, but a teacher who isn't averse to students working on pieces from a broader range than just art songs and arias would be great.

Thanks to all who respond!

tonight marks the first night i am going on a sorta-date in davis square. it starts at 8, and i'd like to go somewhere that we can grab a drink and chat. also, he has to drive back home outside the city after, so we're only going to get one, and then essentially chat/walk and chat.

any suggestions? i'm sorry if that's horribly explained. basically i'm looking for a)a place to meet/grab a drink and b)something to do/somewhere to go after where i can give him my undivided attention while chatting.

thanks!

EDIT:

if it wasn't clear, we're just getting drinks. una bebida. probably just one. neither will be eating. just talking in a fun/attention-conducive environment.

for example: before posting, i was thinking drinks at orleans and then walking down the bike bath.

EDIT#2

where can i buy a fin du monde (unibroue) at a bar/tavern in davis square?

My company wants to put a sports team together (softball, volleyball, dodgeball, whatever) so I'm trying to find some local leagues, BUT they don't want to spend a zillion dollars on entry fees and membership fees and per game fees. The cheapest I've found so far is $400 just for the first entry fee.

Any ideas for cheap leagues? It definitely doesn't have to be a formal thing, I think they just want to goof off and play a game a couple times a month or something.

Oh, and we're technically in Central but anywhere T-accessible would work.

Thank you!

As I am a freeloader and don't have a paid account, and am not willing to get a plus account, there shall be no poll. But, I'm curious:

What do you feel, outside of a liquor store, is the place with the best beer selection in the Davis area (let's make it a one mile concentric circle from the center of Davis Sq.)?

Hi all,

I just recently moved to Somerville from Southeastern MA and my inspection month is October. Seeing as we have just about a week left in this month I was hoping to get it done around here.

Any auto body places around Davis, Ball, Powderhouse, Teele where I can get my car inspected without it taking forever/a non-creepy atmosphere?

Weekends open would be further preferable (I work full time 9-5 during the week).

Thanks so much in advance!

Somerville Climate Action is sponsoring a solar energy workshop hosted by yours truly, Eric Becker, on Saturday October 25th from 10am to Noon. We'll discuss how to harness the sun's energy and federal and state incentives to make Solar Somerville a reality. The economics of solar got a whole lot better earlier this month when the federal tax credit for solar was extended by 8 years and the $2,000 cap lifted. The time has never been better to consider solar for your home.
We will cover:

Conservation and efficiency first! - tax credits and rebates for insulation
Solar photovoltaic systems
Solar hot water systems
Rebates and tax incentives
Financing your solar system

I am not a solar systems engineer, but we have had both solar PV and solar hot water systems installed on our Somerville home and have learned a great deal in the process.

The workshop will be limited to 10 people, so please sign up by emailing me at  ebecker@trilliuminvest.com. The workshop will take place at 25 Malvern Ave., Somerville, between Davis Square and Teele Square. Hope to see you there!

-Eric
