I was wondering if anybody knew of any cab companies that have van cabs? Also, how much more do they cost?
It wouldn't be going far.

Trees!

1. If you live in the Ward 7/Monday track pickup area, your holiday shrub of choice will be picked up today, never fear. I spotted the truck making it's rounds on the way out to work today. Different truck, so different schedule than garbage. Not sure if other areas will have same day/different day tree pickup, but don't panic! if your tree does not disappear right away.

In other news, the gaping hole on 16 towards the intersection with 2 (just past 2A) has been filled, again. Just in time for it to get plowed out tomorrow during our "wintery mix". For those of you who value your rims, tires, and undercarriage, this is valuable info..nothing like a jarring flat tire/coffee splash in the cold morning commute.

I was going to wait and post this later, but since LJ might be shutting down I should probably post the relevant details early. I don't have a nifty flyer yet, but you can see the details without the pretty picture.

I'm scouting around for any sort of local indoor fitness-inducing class that's fun and doesn't require buying a full gym membership (as in, you can pay for the class by itself). I have a subsidized gym membership through work, but that gym doesn't have classes. Anyone remember Punk Rock Aerobics? That's gone away, but I wonder if there's something else on a similar fun vein happening that wouldn't be spoiled by an out-of-shape lump waddling into the class.

Tailor

Any recommendations for a tailor?  I just have some pants that need hemmed so I'm not looking for anything complicated.  I know dry cleaners do this, but they usually just ask how many inches you want the pants shortened.  I'd rather have a tailor who is going to look at the pants on me & shorten appropriately.

Thanks!

I recently volunteered to find a bike rack for my church, one capable of holding at least six bikes. No problem finding one on the net (i.e., http://bikeracks.com/), but if there's a business or rehab site in the local area that's removing one, that's obviously easier on the staff budget. It would also be nice to support a local machine shop or metal worker, if they fabricate them somewhere in Boston. Anyone know of a good candidate?

Last week there were quite a few Verizon trucks out and about in the Teele Square area after a number of people lost their phone service... I lost mine the cold night after the early morning power outage (12/29), it came back on New Years Eve. And whatever happened, they were stringing new cables, etc.

Anyway happened to check Verizon's "see if broadband is available on your line" page, and can now get DSL after it being an impossibility the last ten times I've checked. Perhaps it's the same for the rest of us who were on a DLC ( not direct line to the central office ).

I'm guessing whatever happened last week, they upgraded to DSL-capable line cards in the affected area.
