I tried going back through the posts but couldn't see if Dahn Yoga was brought up before. I currently go to 02 Yoga and I was wondering if people have also tried the Dahn Yoga studio and what they thought of it. It's more expensive but they advertised having also having t'ai chi classes, and would be less expensive belonging to both a t'ai chi studio AND O2 at the same time.

Thanks!

Edit: wow, I had no idea Dahn Yoga wasn't just an innocent yoga studio...they're wicked creepy, definitely will avoid them. Thanks for the info!

Looking for a good dojo/dojang in the area. I know Davis Square has a couple--has anyone checked them out?

I know there was a post about good gyms to get memberships from recently, but does anyone know of a good place where I can take kickboxing classes?

hi all - i wanted to get some varied ideas of ways to get regular exercise around here.  i'm trying to avoid joining a gym- i prefer to do activities that are fun and challenging, and as an added benefit, happen to be good for your body.  e.g. climbing, sailing, swimming, hiking, but these are not the most convenient this tiime of year.  i think i need something that forces me to commit, and where i can see progress over time.  so i was thinking of signing up for a phys. ed. type class- maybe at a school, or if there are any continuing education type programs?  anything you know of in davis or nearby?

my other idea was joining a martial arts studio.  any you recommend?

also, suggestions for yoga/meditation studios are welcome too.  :)

i just moved to davis square. i know many of these have been asked, but i'll ask again. please feel free to offer advice on any or all of these!

1. i live near holland & simpson (near mr. crepe). i commute up 93N and am wondering what is the best way and time to get to the highway? i.e. no traffic (this inludes pedestrians and bikers). w/o traffic it takes me 5 min. to get to the highway going up to broadway, through powderhouse circle, then warner/harvard to 93. in the mornings lately, it has been taking me 15-20!! i have also tried broadway to 16E to 93, and also 15-20 min. is there a better time to leave?

1a. anyone want to carpool to the tewksbury area?

2. best dry cleaners nearby. reasonably priced b/c i have to do a whole pile.

3. good place to get a pedicure.

4. good place to get a massage.

5. cool ways to get exercise (e.g. dance studios, yoga, martial arts... very open to new things)

6. good place to go to clean your car (exterior/interior)? i was recommended srubadub in woburn, but maybe there is a place closer by that is also good?

7. any random fun things i forgot to ask about (restaurants/bars/hangouts, etc).

thanks for any tips! :)

For those who live in and around Davis Sq, what do you wish you knew about before moving there?

I'm about to move to the area to start grad school at Tufts (I just got offered the apt I wanted today and will be moving in August).

What should I know about the area before living there? I moved from NYC to Waltham 2 years ago so I'm somewhat familiar with Boston in general.

Preferably in the vicinity of Davis-Porter-Harvard Squares, but farther out in Somerville/Cambridge would work, too. Any recommendations/advice would be useful, as I'm a total beginner. Thanks!

while growing up what seems like ages ago in a different state, i took some karate with my family, and later a bit of unconventional tai chi. recently, i find myself missing it more and more. i want to take up a martial art again, but i'm not sure which one or where to take it.

anyone know of some good places around the Davis Square area? for that matter, somewhere in Back Bay/South End might be okay, too, 'cause i work around there, but i'd probably prefer Davis.
