Copied from B0st0n:
Boston Healthworks is having a free, 4 week "bootcamp" summer transformation challenge -- non-Healthworks members are encouraged to join (they want teams of 6-10 women with at least 3-5 non-members). You have to fill out an application online and they choose 2 winning teams per club (Back Bay, Brookline, Cambridge, Chestnut Hill, Salem--10 teams total). Teams are chosen on June 1st.

Non-members will have access to the gym and each person meets once a week with a personal trainer/fitness coach/etc. The team with the greatest percentage of change will win a makeover from Vidal Sassoon and the Healthworks Spa.

More info: http://www.healthworksfitness.com/challenge/

So would any davis_square ladies want to form a team to go to the Porter location? I think it'll be lots of fun, and a good way to kick off summer. If you're interested, comment here with your email address. I'll send out an email and get info probably on Tuesday, if there's enough interest.

Seriously WTF? Don't they have to at least wait until 8am? This is bs especially considering they didn't do squat yesterday

Is there a weekend number to call for public health issues that need urgent action? The painters working on the house next door are power-sanding the exterior, spreading paint dust and chips all over the place, and I ran a lead test kit over it and it came up positive. I left messages with the public health inspectors and the inspectional services division, but I don't get the sense anyone's going to get them until Monday. I'm not sure it's the kind of thing I should call the police about, but on the other hand it's a huge public health hazard.

Amnesty International has declared Tuesday, May 19, an international day of action for Troy Davis, a man who has been on death row in Georgia for many years for a crime he may not have committed. There is no physical evidence linking him to the crime, and several witnesses have recanted their testimony. Amnesty International's Northeast Regional Office will be holding a protest to support Troy Davis on Tuesday, May 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Davis Square, across from the Somerville Theatre. Visit this facebook event for more details.

If you are interested in joining Somerville's Amnesty International Group, please visit Amnesty133.org.

Where do I find these? You know - the tiny paper ones you use for jell-o shots. I've checked CVS, the dollar store, and a few grocery stores with no luck. :/

Time is kind of important, they're for a birthday party and I had no idea they'd be so difficult to find.
Yay, I found a Foodmaster that had them! Thanks guys.

While I'm here - any leads on a basic, inexpensive, 16"x20" black picture frame would be fabulous! TJMaxx had nothing, and all the frame stores in the area only seem to carry ridiculously expensive frames that aren't what I need.

Thanks! :)

I called the cops. The first officer who responded didn't know what the laws were about this, but his supervisor did, and had a chat with them. They're doing the rest with hand scrapers and using dropcloths. Which is pretty much the outcome I was looking for.
