This is just your friendly one day meetup reminder that tomorrow will will be at the Burren. As I stated in the previous post, we will be meeting in the front room at 7pm and then making our way to the back room sometime after 8pm. If you haven't been to one of these yet, let me know and I can message you with what I'll be wearing or just reply to your comment tomorrow.

Also, you can go ahead and mark your calendar for the next event. In June, we will move the meetup temporarily to Joe Sent Me in North Cambridge (we've been there several times in the past and they really like having us). We will be meeting June 16th (Wednesday) and we will start at 7pm. As always, I'll send out 1 week and 1 day reminders.

Who will be there tomorrow?

Au Bon Pain is again doing a free iced coffee promotion. This year it will be from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, May 25th.

Here's a link to one of the sites that mentions the offer:

I received an email about this as I'm signed up for the ABP eClub mailing list.

hello DSLJ!

I've come into possession of an antique clock (not uber-ancient, 1881-1885). The clock worked beautifully until a few years ago when I believe it started to get overwound by the previous owner. Does anyone have recommendations for a place that does antique clock repair? Not looking for face restoration, I just want the clock to work and chime again. If it helps, the clock was made by E. Ingraham -- hoping since this was a Connecticut clockmaker that someone local might still specialize in repairing them.

Added bonus if you can be a reference, show me pictures of work done, etc :) This clock isn't worth a lot of money but is a family heirloom, so I really want to make sure it'll be treated right.

I need a copy of my drivers' license.  I've searched the tags and didn't see anything.  Anyone know?  Thanks!

Hi all --

For many years my best friend and I have shared funny, embarrassing, and everything in between stories about waxing experiences, and after joking that we needed some sort of forum to share these stories, we decided that the best way to start a conversation about waxing would be through the blog that we've now launched: Grin and Bare It. We're hoping to get stories from all sorts of people about all different kinds of waxes, so if you have a story to share, we'd love to hear from you! Please e-mail us at grinandbareitblog at gmail dot com with any great stories. I'm also happy to meet you over coffee to share the story and I'll write it up for you! And it's up to you as to whether or not you'd like to remain anonymous.

Either way, please check it out at grinandbareitblog.wordpress.com and help us spread the word!

Happy Waxing!

We've cleaned out our garage. Win for you! Free stuff on curb @100 Rogers:

* portable dishwasher. Worked last we checked, though this was years ago. Was seriously awesome to have back when we lived in an apartment without a dishwasher.
* pair of glass-topped end tables.
* double papasan frame.
* knives.

There's also a couple of couches, but they're pretty gross and we intend them for the trash. But hey, yours if you want them.

Bamboo?

 Has anyone seen bamboo sticks for sale locally? I am looking for quite a few to build supports for tomato plants and possibly some other garden structures. Thanks so much!

Hi everyone!  Just in time for Memorial Day - I have one free gas grill to give away.  Although it doesn't come with a tank, it's still a bargain as all I want is for you to come and get it from my back yard.  Previously owned by a grilling fanatic, it was in excellent working order as of last summer; it has not been used yet this year.  The grill is a Char-Broil "The Big Easy."

Update: grill gone, taken by the first person who emailed me. Thanks!

We're moving and *gasp* leaving Davis. :( Truly sad. We have several wool orientals and they have had an off-and-on relationship with some icky moths. In an effort not to bring them with us to our current place, I want all of our wool rugs (including one non-oriental Ikea rug) to get a deep clean, and a non-toxic moth treatment, if there is such a thing. I have a baby who sometimes licks the rugs (ew), so definitely non-toxic. Anyone know of a place or person? Hey, I'm happy to have someone drag them out into my backyard and soap and hose them down if that's all I can get. Economical is preferred over any other attributes (except, of course, moth-ridding capabilities). Thanks!

Not *right* in Davis Square, but pretty close: just drove by Yak and Yeti on Broadway, across from where it intersects with Willow Avenue, and they have the signs up saying they are opening today. They feature Nepali and Indian cuisine. It being their first day, I have yet to hear reviews; if you go, please to post about it.

Googlemaps puts it at a 13 minute walk from Davis Square.

 I am looking at various movers for this weekend and came across an ad on CL from a guy named John who says he started a moving company while at Tufts to make some extra cash.

Wondering: anyone on the board ever used them or heard anything (good or bad) about them?

Well, I finally heard back from the Somerville Parking office about my challenge to the ticket I got on December 19 for parking on the wrong side of the street at 7:45 PM during this snow emergency in which ticketing was supposed to start at 9pm.

"The Office of the Parking Clerk has reviewed your request for dismissal for the ticket listed below. We believe that the violation was issued in accordance with the City of Somerville Traffic and Parking Department rules and regulations.

The office recognizes your complaint and has administratively dismissed the violation. However any other similarly issued violations will not be dismissed."

While I am pleased that they have finally decided, five months later, that I don't have to pay the $100, I am a little disconcerted to have it ruled that the ticket was correct and they're only dismissing the ticket to be nice.
